The meeting was called to order at 6:00__ pm by _Lisa Swaciak_.
The Secretary’s report was previously submitted via email by __Paulette Green_______. Melissa Willey_____ motioned to accept it and __Aimee Agett________ seconded. The motion was carried.
The Treasurer’s report: submitted by__Pam Smith___. Terri Werwnski________ moved to accept the report and_Aimee Agett_____ seconded. The motion was carried.
- Melissa Willey made a motion that Kirsten Brown seconded for Pam to place the donation from the Lucia family on a short term CD. Motion carried.
The Director’s report: Jessie Frank had the following to report:
- Jessie, Melissa, Kirsten, Pam and Don Watkins attended the annual meeting of the CCLS held at Holiday Valley.
- Jessie confirmed with the contractor that he will begin construction on the sunroom in the spring.
- The donation from the Lucia family will be used to complete the sunroom. If the cost exceeds the amount of the donation there is money available from another donor.
- Jessie is hosting an afterschool program every other Wednesday using a donation from the Easton family.
- Discussion was had concerning supervised family visits that currently take place at the library. Jessie shared her concerns that these visits are interfering with library business and making patrons uncomfortable.
Kirsten Brown made a motion to terminate the privilege of using the library for these visits. Terri Werwinski seconded.
- Annette Gill will be available to discuss changes to Medicare Insurance.
- A sweater pumpkin making class will be held on Thursday, October 16 at 6:00 PM. Cost is $8.00 if you bring your own sweater and $15.00 if you do not bring one.
- Green Thumb Gardening with Matt Bucholz provided seed storage and pumpkin seed packets. A topic for November is undecided at this time.
- In December there will be a centerpiece making class.
- November 13th at 6:00- birch painting. The class has room for 8 people. Jessie will be looking to add an afternoon class as well.
- October 26- Trunk or Treat in the town square. The theme is Hocus Pocus. Melissa and Kirsten will be manning this.
- Baker and Taylor, major distributor of books, is going out of business.
- Computers need to be upgraded by 2027. One is needed for Jessie and 3 for patrons. There may be a possibility of applying for a grant to help with the cost.
- Feedmore food truck is going strong. They are averaging 23 people per week, making Franklinville one of the top consumers.
- Numbers are down. Need to find ways to encourage people to read more actual books, not just Libby.
Melissa Willey_ moved to accept the director’s report. Aimee Agett_seconded. Motion carried.
Communications:
- Condolences sent to Patti Perkins for the passing of her husband.
- Thank you sent to Terri’s daughter Laura for the fun stickers.
